Stage 7 - Fan report
by ilsogno
I was at the KOM - I call it the “Cima Floyd” - for today’s stage. At 4900′ in altitude it is the highest point of this year’s Tour.
On the way up I snaped a pic of a couple of the soigneurs waiting at the feed zone.

I parked about 500 meters from the KOM and rode my Colnago up the rest of the way. Piece of cake! So long as you don’t have to ride from the bottom of the climb! I stationed myself at about 100 meters from the KOM line.
Here’s a view of the KOM finish line. and no, I don’t know who that person is.

The riders approach

Rock Racing is on the attack. Their man goes for his jacket as he approaches the top of the climb.
The chase group of about - 7 or 8 riders is only a few seconds behind him.

Jason McCartney puts his rain coat on.

The next group of riders consisted of Levi and the men that matter. They came up a couple minutes after the chase group went by.

Trailing off the back of the group, a Toyota United rider gasps for air.
A couple of seconds later Dave Zabriskie(?) comes by with a couple of High Road riders.

I know it’s not a great picture but when Mario Cipollini is in the building my hands shake and I go cross eyed. Cipo is to the far right of this pic.

More riders come up in dribs and drabs.

Oh and here’s the Jelly Belly Lexus!

Had a focus problem with this shot but this guy’s face tells it all.

Appropriately enough, the Bissell Vacuum cleaner team rider is the last one on the climb. Just in front of the broom wagon. ![]()

I have to correct myself. That’s not Zabriskie in the Slipstream strip. It’s Cozza.
