Dahon Founder and CEO to Speak at Largest International Cycling Policy Conference, Fleet of 200 Folding Bikes to Await Participants Dahon, the world leader in folding bicycles, announced that it will be participating for the second time in Velo-city, the largest international conference devoted to integrating cycling into public transportation policy. Dahon founder and CEO, Dr. David Hon, will be speaking at the conference and the company will be offering a special edition bicycle in partnership with the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF). This special folding bicycle commemorates both ECF and Dahon’s role in the promotion of green mobility over the past 25 years.
On Thursday, May 14, Dr. Hon will speak on the subject of intermodal mobility at the international conference, which runs from May 12-15 in Brussels. In his speech, Dr. Hon will examine the current and future role of folding and portable bicycles.
”In the last 25 years we have seen first-hand the varied ways that portable bikes are already contributing to a greener and better way of life,” stated Dr. Hon. “City governments and transport authorities have eased regulations and opened new opportunities for commuters to use bikes as an intermodal means of personal mobility. These are very promising first steps into an even more widespread rethinking of transportation in the next few years.”
Dr. Hon will describe the role that folding bikes can play in the future of urban infrastructure and how Dahon’s vision of urban mobility can contribute to a new world of personal mobility, highlighting examples of folding and electric bikes and other light electric vehicles, as well as recent developments for bike rental schemes around the world.
Dahon is prominently supporting Velo-city by providing a fleet of 200 special-edition folding bicycles. Conference participants will be able to test ride the bikes on site and purchase them at a special promotional price. The bike, which is based on the Dahon Vitesse D7HG and features the ECF and Velo-city logos, will be available for purchase by conference attendees and the public during the event expo (May 11-17) and after. A special slipcover featuring the Velo-city logo will also be included with the bike. A comprehensive range of Dahon bikes will also be present in the company’s
booth at the public test track.
Velo-city is jointly organized by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) and the city hosting the conference and has been held every other year since 1980.
