World Championship Sports Network (WCSN) will provide exclusive coverage of the 2008 UCI Cyclocross World Championships from Treviso, Italy, on January 26 – 27, 2008. Cycling fans can tune into WCSN TV and WCSN.com to watch same-day coverage of the Men’s and Women’s Elite races, as well as the Junior Men and Under-23 competitions, from Lago Le Bandie.
Current men’s world champion Erwin Vervecken (Belgium) is expected to compete along with rainbow jersey favorite Lars Boom and his Dutch teammates Sven Nys and Bart Wellens. The top-ranked American, Jonathan Page, silver medalist from the 2007 world championships and 18th in the world, will be joined by fellow Americans Ryan Trebon, Tim Johnson and Jeremy Powers.
In the women’s race, top contenders include Hanka Kupfernagel of Germany, a seven-time medalist in the Cyclocross World Championships, and Marianne Vos of Holland, the 2006 winner and the 2007 Road World Cup champion.
Representing more than 21 countries, 271 riders will take part in the 2008 World Championships. Producers will put 25 cameras on the course– including a fly-cam running on a cable all along the riverside– to ensure a great experience for fans tuning into the broadcast.
