Toyota-United Pro Cycling Team came into the San Dimas race with strong early season momentum and rode away with another early podium showing Friday with a 3rd place finish by Ben Day. Ben rode hard up the 3.8 mile climb which had many twists. He finished 3rd , 16.38 seconds behind the lead finisher. The Toyota-United team also had Justin England finish 5th and Chris Baldwin finish 6th for a strong opener all around. “There is a huge mix of talent and understanding of racing in San Dimas this weekend, and we will try and figure it out over the next two days and respond to the race conditions” said Len Pettyjohn, team director. It was also nice to see some of the Boulder, Colorado based Toyota-United riders come out with strong early season form for their first west coast race of the year. Chris Baldwin and Justin England looked solid, although the heat was a factor for them. The team continues today in the 2nd Stage of the San Dimas race with the San Dimas Hospital Road Race. The conditions are expected to be cooler and cloudier, which will bode well for day two.
