From the Third Pillar Cycling Team:

On Sunday March 9 we lost a terrific friend, teammate, and exceptional athlete, Kristy Gough. Along with Matt Petersen from Roaring Mouse Cycles, Kristy was killed during a training ride on March 9, 2008. We will miss her humor, work ethic, motivation, and exceptional talent. Her love for road racing and training will live on within us.
Kristy Gough was a beautiful person and gifted cyclist that had recently left the world of professional triathalon competition behind to focus on road racing. Immediately she set the local race scene on fire and moved up to Category 3 in a matter of weeks. It was only a matter of time before she saw Category 2 and higher; perhaps even the Olympics. Kristy was adored by her coaches and feared by her competitors.
Over the next few days and coming weeks we’ll be celebrating the life of this truly exceptional human being and athlete. Of course, whenever we ride, alone or as a team, Kristy and Matt will be with us, helping to tick those pedals over a
little faster, and a little harder, taking us down the road to a finish line, or home to our family and friends.

Our best wishes and condolences to the Roaring Mouse team, as well as Matt Petersen’s friends and family
