Ivan Dominguez Signs with Fuji-Servetto

Cuban sprinter Ivan Dominguez (Toyota-United) will ride in the new team FUJI-SERVETTO in 2009. As a result, Dominguez (Havana, 1976) will make his debut in European cycling, after a successful, vaste career across the American calendar for eight years, achieving nearly sixty wins, some of them in Hors Categorie races, such as the Tour de Georgia and the Amgen-Tour of California, in which he used his speed to outsprint a great part of the best specialists in the international peloton, always on a FUJI bike, the same he’ll use in his new team.

“I am very excited to join the FUJI-SERVETTO team”, Dominguez, who took advatage of an appearance with his national team to desert from his country and establish himself in the United States, admitted. “I am happy to race for Fuji-Servetto, a ProTour-level team. It has always been a dream to race inEurope at the Pro Tour level and I think I can win races with FUJI-SERVETTO.”

With this signing, FUJI-SERVETTO’s lineup is made for the time being by 21 riders, with some newcomers expected to join yet -Colombia’s Fabio Duarte will finally not be part of the team-: Alberto Benítez, Iker Camaño, David Cañada, Eros Capecchi, Ermanno Capelli, Juanjo Cobo, David de la Fuente, Jesús Del Nero, Iván Domínguez, Arkaitz Durán, Alberto Fernández de la Puebla, Ángel Litu Gómez, Héctor González, Beñat Intxausti, Josep Jufré, Javier Megías, Daniele Nardello, Ricardo Serrano, Andrea Tonti, Davide Vigano and William Walker.


Fuji-Servetto Registers with Pro Tour for 2009 Season

Philadelphia, PA - The former Scott-American Beef (Saunier-Duval) team, registered with the UCI last week under the name of GM Bikes, has announced today that the team has acquired title sponsorship for the 2009 season from the Fuji bicycle company and Servetto, an Italian company which manufactures accessories for wardrobes. The Pro Tour team also will also be supported in 2009 by TMC Transformers, designer and manufacturer of electric transformers, and of the government of Cantabria.

For Fuji bicycles, the largest brand of Advanced Sports, Inc., headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this will be its first foray into the Pro Tour ranks. Previously the sponsor of U.S. Continental team Toyota-United, Fuji continues to expand its presence in the elite sports arena. In addition to Fuji-Servetto, Fuji bicycles will sponsor the Pro Continental team Elk Haus, based in Austria. Fuji also continues to sponsor Equipe Nurnberger, the top-ranked women’s pro team out of Germany as well as U.S. Olympian and current National Champion in triathlon, Matt Reed.
