| RAAM 1,000 Mile Race Update The new 1000 Mile race is generating quite a bit of interest! To date, we’ve got commitments from seven solo racers, four of whom are females! And, our finish city, Taos, New Mexico, is joining our enthusiasm and eagerly preparing to host a fine celebration for this event.
Our research indicated that a 1,000 mile race would be an attractive event and fulfill an unmet need for many competitors. It’s a great stepping stone from a RAAM qualifier to the full event - and there is no qualification requirement. And, more importantly, the expense commitment to participate is far less than a full crossing of RAAM. This should be an attractive benefit for the solo racers that are interested in a full RAAM, yet recognize the large investment and high risk of a successful rookie crossing. The 1,000 mile race can be accomplished with limited time away from home & work, a bare bones crew and vehicle set-up, and greatly reduced financial expenses. Due to the enthusiasm for this event, we’ve extended the early registration discount for another week! We are offering significant first-timer discounts on this event if you register by November 20th. A solo entry is just $550, 2-Person Team is $850, and a 4-Person Team is $1350. | 2007 RAAM DVD Available ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The documentary of the 2007 RAAM is available on DVD for purchase at the RAAM Store. Allen Larsen, 2003 Solo RAAM Champion, has produced a compelling view of RAAM, using his extensive knowledge of the race, testimonials from outside sources, and spectacular footage from a host of cameramen on course. In a nice touch of paying respect to RAAM as the “toughest athletic event in the world,” we’ve included comments and footage, of Wolfgang Fasching, comparing his summit of Mount Everest and his conquest of RAAM.
