Last weekend, a fundraising event featuring beer, bbq, raffle along with racing, was held for the PROMAN UCI Track Racing team at the Hellyer Velodrome in San Jose, California.

Perfect Pairing: Racing and music
Under team owner and manager Nicola Cranmer, the PROMAN team went from a regional road team in 2006 to a United States UCI track trade team in 2007. In the fall of 2007, the team embarked on their first World Cup race in Sydney, Australia, followed by Beijing, China. Going into the third event of the four-race World Cup Series, the PROMAN Track team will field 5 riders for the UCI Track World Cup at Los Angeles’ ADT Velodrome over the weekend. The riders are Shelley Olds, David McCook, Kele Murdin, Roman Kilun, and a new member to the team Brent Stein.

Shelley Olds recently achieved 2 podium spots at U.S Track Nationals including bronze in the team
pursuit and fifth place in the points race. Olds is one of the founding members of the PROMAN Women’s Team and is noted for her sprinting abilities on the road. She has gone from a beginner road racer to a World Cup competitor in less than three years. Olds intends to focus on track racing in pursuit of her Olympic dream, however holds a diverse portfolio of cycling glory, including top 10’s in each of her first National Cross, Track and Criterium championships.

Shelley Olds
US national scratch race champion Dave McCook has been racing on the professional circuit since 1993 and has consistently been one of the most dominant field sprinters in the U.S. for the last fifteen years, riding most recently for Kelly Benefit Strategies.
Olds and McCook will be joined by time trial and Track endurance specialist, Kele Murdin who will focus on the Pursuit. At this year’s Track National’s, Murdin joined Olds and Heather Albert to score a bronze medal in the Team Pursuit. Murdin also nabbed a stellar 5th place in the Individual Pursuit and also has a closet filled w/ Master 30+ National title jerseys. Murdin will race with the PROMAN road squad in 2008.

Roman Kilun
New to track racing, Roman Kilun who rides for Health Net Pro Cycling Team p/b Maxxis for the road,
will primarily focus on individual pursuit. Kilun took a silver in the team pursuit and ninth in the individual pursuit at US track nationals.

On hand to offer support and to use the time on the track to fine tune their form for the upcoming road season were local racers, including Ben Jacques-Maynes (Bissell) and USCF Elite Mens National Criterium Champion Daniel Holloway (VMG).
