There are few things in cycling that are as personal and specific as chamois cream. Saddles and shoes can require lots of experimentation and testing until one finds what works best. Chamois cream, though, goes to a whole new level of involvement. It takes a strong leap of faith to slather your shorts with a cold, viscous cream and roll out for a few hours. Often this can be, shall we say, uncomfortable, if the cream happens to have a strong menthol ingredient. Obviously, the problem is that everyone’s senses are different. One rider might find one cream just perfect while another thinks that he or she has finally gotten the crabs. The point is, chamois creams vary a lot and what works for one might not work for another. With that being said, I present my review of dznuts high viscosity chamois cream.

Hey, Thanks for the review. Just enough info without having to shudder in fear due to over-explanative adjectives or nouns while keeping the humor on the go. Glad it works, and I might get some after my current cream runs out.

Good review. About how long will a tube last?

It is hard to say ‘cuz everyone uses a different amount. I have been using it about a month and I think the tube has about 2/3 left. I use about a quarter (25 cents) size dollop. I’ll post something when it runs out.

Got some free samples at the Tour of Ca. Tried it out on a 70 miler yesterday….one of the longest lasting creams I have used. Actually online right now trying to get some more. Would like to be able to buy the individual packs like the samples, you can toss them in your jersey pocket should you need more!

After a 20 year lay off from any riding (I turn 60 this year), I decided to start again as I got very over weight and developed diabetes. I bought a Lemond Buenos Aires (fantastic bike) on eBay and started riding a month ago. Remembering that three things were essential to enjoying riding, I made sure that I tried to get them–shoes that fit, good riding shorts with proper padding, and a cream to prevent saddle sores, as, one wants to ride whenever the weather allows (Maine coast). Got the first good pair of shoes that ever fit me, Sidi Mega’s, decent but inexpensive shorts (3 pairs to try out different brands) and the DZ Nuts creme. Well, I need to spend more on shorts, the best ones are $100+. I have yet to complete the Speedplay/Sidi setup but had an old pair of shoes to use that are OK.

The DZ Nuts creme is great. The price is high, you have to shop around and there are some decent deals on eBay. And I earn a very low income, so it is not easy to spend the money–but it is essential. I’ll feel all set with a better set of heavier tires, 3-5 pairs of top quality shorts and the ability to buy enough DZ Nuts creme. The rest is effort. BTW, the creme is also soothing for hemorrhoids–an added benefit.

Anyway, in a few weeks of 1-1/2 hour moderate rides a few days a week, blood sugar is way down and I feel like I am 17 again.
