Asheville, N.C. – Team TIBCO’s Lauren Tamayo recently took her new Look 596 Time Trial bike to the A2 Wind Tunnel to dial in her position ahead of the Nature Valley Grand Prix.

“Every year we try to take a step forward in Lauren’s progression, and this year it’s the one percent things,” notes Mike Tamayo, Lauren’s husband and manager. Mike is also the directeur sportif for the OUCH Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis. “That’s where A2 comes into play. You can’t just go get tested right before the season starts. You have to test and then adapt and then test again as the season progresses.”

So the Tamayos made the drive from their base in Asheville, N.C. to the Charlotte area to test Lauren’s new TT machine.

“The new Look 596 is incredibly aerodynamic and light,” Lauren Tamayo said. It’s a truly fast machine and I want to get as much out of it as possible. That’s why I wanted to take it to A2, to get my position perfect for the rest of this season, and looking ahead to 2010 and beyond.

“Mike Giraud at the A2 Wind Tunnel was a big help in the testing,” she continued. “And I’ve got a good team around me to help with my development, including Mike and our Team TIBCO director, Jeff Corbett, who’s also my nutritionist.”

Pro Triathlete Tim O’Donnell Signs with Fuji

May 18th, 2009 by thien

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Fuji bicycles is proud to announce its newest sponsored athlete, Timothy O’Donnell. A competitive triathlete since he was a junior at the U.S. Naval Academy in 2001, Tim has achieved incredible success in a short amount of time - most recently having smashed the course record at the St. Croix 70.3.

“We are more than excited to bring Tim on board,” said Karen Bliss, Fuji’s Director of Marketing. “He impressed me at the 2007 Eilat World Cup where he was the second American to finish behind our other Fuji-sponsored triathlete, Matt Reed. Now that I know more about him - and his incredible accomplishments both on and off the bike - I’m convinced Tim’s the guy to watch in 2009 and beyond.”

As a student, a Navy serviceman and an athlete, O’Donnell has achieved more in his 27 years than many people do in a lifetime. In high school, O’Donnell was elected captain of the varsity swim team, where he set multiple school records, earning repeated district championships and All-State honors.

He reported to the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, Maryland where he was a member of the varsity swim team until his brother, who was attending at the same time, convinced him to try out for the triathlon team. At the start of his junior year, O’Donnell devoted his time fully to triathlon. Success in the sport soon followed as he led the Naval Academy to two U.S. National Triathlon Championship titles.
