AJALVIR, Madrid - Due to the ever-growing items in our product line, and the constant updates to the increasing popularity of most of our items we have decided to bring to life a new website. This new site, we hope, will easily communicate some of the new offerings as well as to keep everyone informed on the many great results attained from the many teams and athletes that have chosen Rotor products as part of their secret arsenal.

We felt that our image was not aesthetically fitting to the innovative, light weight, performance oriented products that you have come to expect from us, and one of the goals of the new site is to show that we have not lost our competitive touch and understand that due to the nature of our products, we need to put a little extra effort in explaining the features and benefits found in every product in our line.

In order to facilitate the understanding of our innovative products, we have added explanatory 3D images of the Rotor System Cranks, Q-Rings and the SABB bottom bracket; we will continue to add products as time allows.

But, the new website is not the only thing that is new; we have also revamped our company logo to show a more elegant image in line with the technological characteristic of our company, so it is only fitting to give it a new and contemporary look.

We invite you to visit our new site, and gladly welcome any comments or feedback.

Team Astana Picks Giro

December 19th, 2007 by thien

astana_ionos.jpg

Santa Cruz, – Giro® is pleased to announce that beginning January 1, 2008, Team Astana will train and race exclusively with Giro helmets, specifically Ionos™ and Advantage 2™ models. The team, which includes reigning Tour de France Champion Alberto Contador and US National Road Champion Levi Leipheimer will debut Astana’s famed turquoise, yellow, and white livery on their new helmets at the team’s first training camp next month. And the riders are stoked. “I’m really fortunate that I get to keep racing with Giro helmets. There were a lot of long, hot climbs in the Tour this year and the remarkable ventilation of the Ionos really kept me cool, which I think was a big advantage”, said Levi Leipheimer.

Giro and Astana’s General Manager, Johan Bruyneel, have come together again to continue a cycling legacy. “I have a long history with Giro, both as a rider and Team Director. Year after year, Giro has impressed me with the performance of their products, which deliver a proven advantage to the riders. They are a brand that set the bar for everyone else so the decision for me and Astana to continue with them was clear”, said Bruyneel.

A number of Astana riders will enjoy Skull Hugging Luxury™ and Giro’s proprietary Super Fit™ performance, by running Giro helmets and eyewear in 2008. Alberto Contador, who debuted the Giro Havik™ sunglass at the 2007 Tour de France will continue to ride and develop eyewear for Giro. Jani Brajkovic, Sergio Paulinho, and Benjamin Noval are the newest members of the Giro eyewear squad. Giro’s Senior Sports Marketing Manager Chuck Platt said more riders are likely to be announced soon. “The response to our new eyewear program has been insane. Riders are recognizing the fact that we’ve developed eyewear specifically for the sport of cycling and they really want to race with it”.

Team Astana will put their new Giro products to use at training camp next month in New Mexico and will make their racing debut a couple weeks later at the Tour Down Under in Australia.

Olney, Illinois – The new Grand Prix 4000s, our top-level racing clincher featuring breakthrough Black Chili compound exclusively from Continental – the masters of German tire technology.

Just when you thought high-performance clinchers could not be better, Conti has once again raised the bar. Our R&D wizards have developed the means of milling carbon black filler material to an ultra-fine level effectively creating nano-technology for butyl rubber. By shrinking the individual carbon black particles to the comparative size of a soccer ball vs. the earth, we can now put more rubber on the ground with a more flexible, more compliant compound. This incredible formula delivers performance advances on the order of 30% increased adhesion, 26% lower rolling resistance and 5% improved mileage. In a nut-shell, Black Chili Compound rolls stickier – faster – longer!

The Grand Prix 4000s also features Vectran puncture protection, so at a scant 205 grams (700×23) is still completely reliable and delivers tubular-like performance to a race-ready clincher.

Kansas City, MO - Georgia Gould finished her 2007 campaign with a well-deserved third-place at the U.S. National Cyclo-Cross Championships in frozen, rutted conditions in Kansas City’s Wyandotte Country Park.

This race concludes a breakthrough season for Gould that began in early March at the 2007 Pan American Mountain Bike Continental Championships in Neuquén, Argentina (…she won). She then went on to win the Sea Otter Classic, every NORBA National cross-country race
and the USGP of cyclo-cross. For the majority of 2007, Georgia held the UCI world number one ranking as an individual athlete, and was instrumental in propelling the LUNA Pro team to the top of the UCI world team rankings, where it remains today.

Gould will now be taking some time off as she prepares for 2008 and with any luck, a spot on the U.S. Team for the Beijing Olympics.

Big News for 2008 - The LUNA Pro Team has some great news about the program for 2008. Stay tuned for an announcement sometime this week.

Next - The next official LUNA Pro Team gathering will be at our annual photo camp and 2008 team orientation March 24-26, in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Fumiyuki Beppu looks torwards 2008 and life after Discovery

December 18th, 2007 by thien

by Stephanie Gutowski

fumysun1.jpg

With the formal dissolution of the Discovery Channel team this month, we caught up with the talented 24 year old Japanese cyclist, Fumiyuki Beppu, to preview 2008 and look back on his three years riding as a member of Discovery Channel.

Beppu will begin 2008 on a new team riding primarily in Europe. “I have a one-year contract with Skil Shimano,” stated Beppu. “I am looking forward to riding a full European calendar in 2008. On Skil Shimano I can ride more Classics and Pro Tour races. I think this is a smart move for me. On Skil Shimano I can take on a leadership role.”

Beppu is very much looking towards the future. “I would love to ride in a Grand Tour, he said, “I know that will come in the future. My main goals next year are to ride in Paris-Roubaix, Paris-Nice and Flanders.”

One of the few Asian riders based in Europe, Beppu has lived in France and competed in the amateur ranks with the VC La Pomme team prior to joining Discovery Channel. “I go to Mallorca in January (for training camp). I’ll be home in Japan until then. After the Spring Classics I’ll head back to my European home…Marseille.”

Beppu began cycling in 1990, participating in his first mountain bike event at the very young age of nine before winning his first road event three years later. He joined the La Pomme team in 2003, finishing 14th in the Espoir Paris-Roubaix and 20th in the Espoir World Championships. In 2004, Beppu won the opening stage of the Giro della Valle d’Aosta in Italy, taking the win from his four Italian breakaway companions. He also won the mountains competition at the Ronde de l’Isard d’Ariege stage race in France. In 2006 he became the Japanese National Road and Time Trial Champion. 2007 saw him get very close to a stage win. He was second in stage three of the Tour de Romandie.

The biggest change Beppu has experienced while on Discovery Channel has been his mental game. “I have really developed a mental toughness that is necessary to survive in the peloton,” he stated. “This is my biggest improvement. Being a professional cyclist is difficult.” Beppu also commented about the challenges of pacing during a race, “In a professional race the pacing is very different than an amateur race. An amateur race’s pacing is hard from start to finish but in a professional race you may start fast…..slow down in the middle….then the last 30k is very, very fast. It’s extremely important to know this pacing and be ready. I am learning to pace myself better in a race.”

Beppu commented how grateful he was to have been given the opportunity to ride on a professional team at such a young age, “I have learned a lot….about the professional cycling culture….about riding in a professional peloton…about supporting my team mates,” Beppu said. “I feel I am still learning about riding in the peloton. The talent on Discovery was amazing. Learning from these talented riders, like Armstrong and Eki, was great.”

“I loved riding in all of the races with Discovery. Each race had special moments that I can remember and enjoy. I have been able to ride in some big races…like Paris Roubaix. I had a good experience this year in the Tour of Romandie…finishing 2nd in a stage. Riding in the Classics was fun. It was fun riding in support of my team in Paris-Roubaix. Paris-Roubaix is my favorite race. The race is very technical and dangerous. I really enjoy it. Paris-Roubaix is full of history and that is one reason why I love cycling. I love the history of cycling.”

Beppu continues to be a huge star in his homeland. He writes a number of magazine cycling columns, has had a documentary aired on Japanese television, and is currently on the cover of Japan’s Bicycle Club magazine. “The fans in Japan have been great. They give me so much support. They send me encouraging words.” He has an extremely popular website - http://www.fumy.jp/ - which currently is only available in Japanese. Beppu keeps his fans updated with his personal blog.

Though he is looking forward to riding with Skil Shimano Beppu reminisced about his time with Discovery Channel. “I learned about racing and riding techniques from them….as well as training,” stated Beppu. “I was given the opportunity to ride and learn with the team. This was very important to me.”
